Each week in the Friday Memo, the Dialogue for Change Committee alerts you to resources to learn more about Black experience and racial issues. This week we recommend a PBS special, Driving While Black: Race, Space, and Mobility in America. The 2-hour video aired in October 2020 and portrays how the advent of the automobile brought new mobility and freedom for African Americans but also exposed them to discrimination and deadly violence, and how that history resonates today. Good stuff!
You are also invited to participate in Action Matters- our monthly meeting meant to help people take small actions to resist racism. We share information about organizations we know about or are participating with, meetings or workshops to try out, upcoming speakers, and who from our church is already connected with them. You can share, join, give, volunteer, or simply listen and learn!
Check our events calendar for upcoming meetings and/or contact Lucinda Huffaker for additional info and Zoom link.
