Want to help in a critical way to feed the needy, pandemic and fire victims? THEY NEED YOU to donate either food or cash to the Contra Costa Food Bank. The urgency is greater this year as our food bank is helping 40% more people due to the pandemic. They are also helping many fire victims in Butte County and Solano County. On Oct 17th, volunteers will be in front of the sanctuary to take your food directly from your car from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Anything not expired is acceptable. No glass please.
We have set up an account for “Team SRVUMC,” a VIRTUAL DRIVE for cash donations that the Bank uses to buy food directly at a discount from partners. Every dollar you give makes a huge difference!
1) With the volume of food they purchase, they can get 4 times as much nonperishable food/ dollar than a consumer can at retail.
2) They can purchase fresh produce at $.12/lb., which us over 1/2 the food they distribute. A $100 donation provides 8,000 lbs. of fruits and vegetables.
Make a monetary donation here.
And don’t forget, your employer may match. It’s worth an ask!
Our goal is to raise at least $2,000 in addition to the food donations.
Thank you for your help to ease hunger!
