Pastor Kim Risedorph is grateful to be serving at the church where she and her children were baptized. With her whole heart, she knows that being a part of a church community deepens our awareness of God, and prompts us to serve others as followers of Christ Jesus.
Kim and her family joined San Ramon Valley UMC when they moved to California in 1996. She had been a college professor teaching modern Chinese history, when a series of life events prompted her to consider becoming a pastor.
She always carried a curiosity about God, the Presence of Divine Love. This yearning for meaning, purpose and joy was nurtured in the Christian Science Church Kim grew up in, as well as extensive sojourns in China and Taiwan as she completed her doctorate. While a member at San Ramon Valley UMC, she began to explore a career change and is forever grateful for the support and encouragement of her home church. After graduating from seminary, she served as a co-pastor at Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton and as a lead pastor at Asbury United Methodist Church in Livermore. Since 2018, she is delighted to be serving at SRVUMC.
In addition to loving her job, Kim loves daily workouts, yoga, reading, and adventuresome trips with husband Steve Elliott. In 2019, they summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, and are ready for another challenge. They are always looking forward to the next visit with their young adult offspring, Gabe and Rebecca.
