Reconciling Ministries Network Voting Results

After months of investigation, discussion, thoughtful consideration and finally a vote, the results are in.  San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church has voted to join the Reconciling Ministries Network. The number of votes cast totaled 439 and 82% of those ballots were in favor of joining the RMN.

Thank you to everyone who voted.

This means that SRVUMC will move forward to join the Reconciling Ministries Network.  We will go forward as a faith community that publicly welcomes all, in accordance with our welcome statement:

“We, the people of San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is unconditionally accepting and actively loving of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, age, economic status, faith history, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We welcome and embrace all, including those who have been excluded from the house of God.  Our hearts, our minds and our doors are open to all who want to share the love of Jesus Christ in our community and our world.”

As we move forward, a task force will be created to determine our next steps.  Anyone who has ideas or recommendations regarding implementation is encouraged to contact Pastor Dan (dsturdivant@srvumc.org) or Lay Leader, Kathleen Saghafi (ktahern@sbcglobal.net), or call the church office (925-837-5243).

With gratitude to all who participated in this important decision by our church community,

Debra Carter, Church Council Chair

Kathleen Saghafi, Church Council Vice-Chair and Lay Leader
