VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Any qualified voter who cannot come to the church campus to vote during the listed hours, may vote by absentee ballot.  To request an absentee ballot, call the church office (925-837-5243) or send an email to Debra Carter (Church Council Chair): hermine2@icloud.com.

Requests for absentee ballots may only be made between Monday, August 5, 2019 and Friday, August 16, 2019.

Absentee ballots will be mailed within 1 day of the request, but no absentee ballots will be sent out after Saturday, August 17, 2019.  Absentee ballots will only be mailed out in hard copy; they will not be delivered electronically.

Absentee ballots will be accompanied by an “Attest” page (the same as the in-person voting ballots), a return envelope and instructions.

In order to be counted, absentee ballots and the “attest” page must be returned to the church office.  Absentee ballots that are mailed in must be postmarked by Sunday, August 25, 2019.

ALL VOTERS

Your Vote is Anonymous.  Signatures are required in order to receive a ballot, but the signature is not connected with and will not correspond with the ballot.  This way we can keep track of who voted but not how they voted.

You Certify that You are Qualified to Vote.  By signing your name you attest you are qualified to vote on the issue of whether or not SRVUMC should join the Reconciling Ministries Network, according to the following criteria:

1.  You are a member of the congregation of the SRVUMC (by confirmation, transfer, or otherwise)

OR

You are an active participant/constituent in SRVUMC, as defined by:

During the last three (3) years (August 11, 2016 – August 11, 2019)       you have participated in one of the following:  worship, a mission project, a church retreat, a high school youth activity, or a small group, and you are at least old enough to be in ninth grade, or you have made a financial donation to SRVUMC.

2.   You will vote one and one time only.
